What is self storage?

Self storage is an affordable, efficient way for you to store your life’s possessions.  Self storage makes it easy to store items of all shapes and sizes in one convenient storage location.

How do I use it?

Self-storage can be used for many purposes:
As an extension of your home; a place to store seldom used items
To store seasonal items such as decorations or sports equipment
As a business storage solution to de-clutter your office
To free up garage space so you can actually park your car in it again and many more!

How do I know what size I need?

Create a list of the items that you are going to be storing.  Choosing the right size unit will ensure that you only pay for the storage you need.  Visit our size guide to determine exactly what size you will need, and then check out our helpful storing tips for maximizing your storage space!

Can I change my storage unit to a different size after I have already moved in?

If the unit size you want is available at your facility, then yes you can move into another unit.  Your local facility manager will be able to assist you in that transition.

How long do I need storage?

Our month to month rentals give you the flexibility to choose just how long you require your unit.

What do I need to bring with me to rent a self storage unit?

One of the following forms of identification:
State issued identification card
Drivers license
Passport
Military ID

What is an indoor unit compared to an outdoor unit?

Outdoor units are on ground-level and have drive-up access.  Indoor units are located inside of a building on the property.  A drive-up unit is a ground floor or outdoor unit that has its own loading area.  These units are ideal for storing large, heavy items or equipment as you have the ability to load your belongings directly from a vehicle or truck.

What is climate-controlled and do I need it?

Climate controlled storage units are temperature controlled so your treasured belongings are not exposed to extreme temperatures.  Our climate controlled facilities are housed in an indoor finished building where dirt and dust are less likely to penetrate. This type of environment is ideal for storing furniture, photographs, discs/records, electronics, and other items.

Do I need to have a lock?

You provide the lock ensuring that you, and only you, have access.  Don’t have a lock?  No problem, you can purchase a new, sealed lock at any of our locations and no one else will have a key to that lock.  We highly recommend the purchase of a disc lock or cylinder lock.

What happens if I lose my storage key or gate access code?

You should contact the Apex Storage professional during normal office hours for assistance.

Can anyone access the property?

All of our facilities have an electronic gate system which can only be opened by a code that is assigned to each individual tenant.

Do I need insurance for my stored goods?

You are responsible for those items you store and insurance for those items is your responsibility.  We offer self-storage insurance options at the facility.  In the event that you are already covered, a copy of the declaration’s page must be available at the time of rental.

How do I get my items to the unit?

Our locations have extra wide drive aisles, allowing your rental truck or movers easy access to your unit.

What’s the difference between office hours and gate hours?

The office hours are the hours of operation for the property when the facility manager will be available to assist you with your storage needs or moving and packing supplies.  The gate hours are the hours your rental unit can be accessed using your assigned electronic gate code.

When can I access my storage unit?

You can access your unit during gate hours 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day of the year.

Do you have moving carts available?

Unfortunately, we no longer offer push carts and dollies at our facilities.  You will need to rent them from a rental truck company.

Do you have space for RVs & Autos & Boats?

Specific locations offer parking for the storage of RVs, boats, cars, and motorcycles. Call the nearest location in your area to check parking spot availability.

Can I buy boxes and moving supplies?

Yes.  All locations offer a wide variety of boxes and packing supplies.

What is an “On-site Resident” manager?

That means that the facility managers reside on site in an apartment.

Do you hold auctions at your storage facilities?

We hold monthly auctions at all of our facilities.  You can contact a storage facility in the area to find out when they will be held.

Do you accept commercial deliveries?

Yes.  We will gladly accept your commercial delivery once you have given us written permission to do so.

How can I pay for my unit?

We want to make your storage experience a stress-free experience, including paying your bill.  We offer the convenience of auto pay.  We can automatically charge your Mastercard®, Discover®, Visa®, or American Express® each month.  We accept cash, checks, credit cards in our onsite offices during business hours.

Do you accept credit cards?

We accept several major credit cards, including MasterCard®, Discover®, Visa®, or American Express®.

What if I am late making my payment?

Your monthly rent is due on the same day each month (the anniversary date of the rental).  At Apex Self Storage if your rent is not paid in full by the 4th day then your gate code access is removed and your unit will be over-locked.  Apex provides an eight day grace period before charging a late fee on the 9th day past a payment due date.  After 19 days past you due date, a second late fee will be applied.  For further details please refer to your lease or contact your storage facility.  Late fees cannot be waived and the full balance must be paid immediately to avoid foreclosure.  No partial payments are accepted.  Please also note that until your account is paid in full, access to your unit may be denied, your gate code access is removed and your unit will be over-locked.

What do I need to do to move out?

We require two days verbal OR 15 days written notice before vacating.  We ask that you stop into our office and fill out a vacate card.  We will prorate your last month of rent (charging you only for the days you use) as long as we have been notified prior to receiving your last month’s payment.  On your scheduled move-out day make sure the unit is completely empty, your lock has been removed and the store manager has inspected the unit.
